		<description>I&#039;d be interested to know if you think standardized testing has NO place in the assessment process, or whether you are merely concerned with the weight that it is afforded in our efforts to provide &quot;accountability&quot; for school systems.  

One problem here is that we might desire a system in which standardized tests provided one of many measures of educational quality, but we might find that the costs of administering standardized tests on a broad enough level to be useful are so high as to preclude financing other forms of assessment.  In that case, it truly would be an &quot;either/or&quot; proposition.</description>
