I became a deserter, an eccentric, an outsider." He says he's going against the norm by not going into debt...but he's still going to college! He's still sacrificing himself the overpriced, overhyped college industry. If he's such a rebel, he shouldn't even go to college...especially for an English and Liberal Arts degree. He's obviously brilliant and self motivated. Why does he think he needs to pay all that money to learn things he could learn for free at the local library? “I refused to join those ranks.
