International Students Bring $18.8 Billion to U.S. Economy
This being International Education Week, NAFSA has released its annual economic impact statements, showing how much money international students bring into the U.S. Last year, $18.8 billion was contributed to our economy by the students and their families. They’re all probably being charged exorbitant out-of-state-tuition fees, but that huge money number a few lines back is still bananas.
You can peruse the economic impact statements by state, institution, or congressional district, and you can read more about what international students bring to the U.S. when they matriculate (it’s more than money, if you were wondering).
