I can’t agree more with this article, especially telling students to get a head-start. The way our education system is set up — and how we work in our daily lives — tends to be reaction based.
We are used to taking education one step at a time. We graduate and move on to the next level. We don’t worry about finances and jobs until we have to.
For those of you who know Dr. Stephen Covey, Thinking with the end in mind is one of his 7 Habits of Highly Successful People. I would say my greatest piece of advice to anyone going into college or the professional world is to always think with the end in mind.
Take part in extracurricular activities that will help you in the future, participate in internships, etc.
All of these items are going to put you ahead of the game, because having a college degree just doesn’t cut it anymore.
