Dr. Tae Tells It Like It Is
He had me at “School sucks.” And then Dr. Tae, physics prof at Northwestern University, explained exactly why that statement is true for both high schools and universities. He is direct, eloquent, and sites MythBusters as not only the most scientific show on television, but also exactly what science is supposed to be: lots of experiments. (Plus, they blow stuff up. Really well. And often.)
Dr. Tae has a few simple solutions for how schools and universities might go about solving their Educational Suckfest issues. Hiring great teachers could work, not just the standard, certified and competent ones, but the teachers who think outside the box. Universities may want to consider hiring professors who are known for their teaching skills and not for their fabulous research. Bananas, I know. Educators who educate? That’s insane!
